My latest find: Out of production Cold Steel Chinese sabre. Purchased at my local hardware store for half the original price. This one had been stored there for over 15 years, together with the CS Bagua dao (already sold) and the CS bat-Gim sword (Which I've reseved and will pick up this week When I saw it for such a discount, I knew it was mine. Paid 225 Euro It feels very nice in hand with that very comfortable grip. Very well balanced for a slashing weapon, with about 17 cm POB. The long grip makes a nice counter balance, no problems with blade recovery. It's the most comfortable wielding dao I have. The beautiful mirror polished blade (66 cm) is very sharp from begin to end.

Thank you. Also picked this up last week, the bat-themed jian / gim sword. This one feels massive but not clunky. With a blade length of 69 cm and a POB of 12 cm, it feels like good cutter and thruster. Blade is straight and even; no ripples. The brass fittings are thick and sturdy with a nice antique look. From the following thread, I've learned that this was the very first model jian / gim sword of CS, before the carp jian: sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/33600/cold-steel-gimAttachments:

Thanks. I prefer this model more than the carp jian. It looks more familiar for a jian. With the well defined convex shaped blade, it looks like a tough sword.
This might be the 1st functional production jian for the western market, right?

The straight sword is a bat sword? Bianfujian? Both blades, I also have in my collection, both sturdy, nice cutters, real cold weaponry..

Yes. Bianfujian. But I'd rather call it hungfujian. Hung = red (in this case, referring to the red grip and scabbard cord) Fu = Luck Hungfu = something like "great luck" Very well finished swords indeed. Made by Huanuo, after all
