Wonder what kind of drugs they used back then? "Many cultures have beliefs about the end of the world. In 15th-century Germany the Apocalypse would be coming if you saw a castle hanging from a thread and a giant hatching from an egg." www.medievalists.net/2020/05/signs-apocalypse-germany/

(From the article) Other signs
The sea rises above the mountains The sea resides, and the earth withers The fish in the sea lament to heaven The sea and all the waters burn up Trees sweat blood; birds assemble on the fields and refuse food Buildings collapse and trees fall down Stones fly up and smash each other; people hide up in caves Earthquakes All mountains are leveled People return from the mountains and go about as if they are senseless and unwilling to speak to each other The dead rise The stars fall from heaven and emit fire The living die so that they can rise with the dead Heaven and earth are consumed by fire But will be renewed, and all humankind shall rise together

Some of the herbs they used to spice up the beer were questionable.

From time to time I drink absinth, a 73% vol.alc. one, but with much water and ice and a little bit of sugar, it's like a bitter gin then. I didn't see green fairies yet, only orange pres... It's said that some of the absinth spices could cause psychotic problems or visions but they analyzed stuff found in old bottles and didn't find anything, also in modern absinth. But we know beer really was spiced up with dangerous herbs like henbane.

Not to be a wet blanket, but as an historical issue, the term “apocalypse” in the Biblical tradition refers to a revelation, typically of divine Truth or perspective, not the end of the world. www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?t=nkjv&strongs=g602For a discussion of its use in context, and links to inter linear resources, please PM me. I will honor SBG’s prohibition against discussing religion on the forum. 😊
