www.globalgear.com.au/prod2717.htmIt's a good price and despite the insane shipping costs I'm sure I'll end up paying it is still a great deal cheaper than an Albion Chieftain. Anyone know if their Euro swords are good quality? I know Paul has reviewed a good number of their Katanas. A lot of their other Euro swords seem good despite the ugly pommels and ugly scabbards. I don't particularly care for the pommel on the claymore but everything else is spot on exactly what I wanted. I think their pommels I treated on by the looks but I'm not sure. I was curious if anyone else here has had any luck with them.

I was recently wondering the same thing...anyone own a Global Gear Euro sword? That claymore looks like all business - no foolin' around. I like the diminutive pommel on it, it seems to fit it's lean, lethal appearance. The blackened finish is nice as well, but the thing seems to ooze quality. I wondered about their one-handers like the solingen and the Templar...I like that the Templar is free of symbology, and all are made of quality materials. . I wrote them about their outrageous shipping, and got the below response. But for the shipping, they'd be a downright steal. I also suggested that they ship an evaluation sword or two to Paul, without realizing they had sent an oriental sword along already. Shoulda searched, but I don't look at oriental swords much. Hi Landon, Unfortunately we don't use any other postal methods, Simply because most companies in Australia don't want to handle swords, knives and other weapons due to "safety regulations" which is ridiculous! However the shipping service that we use are very good, It's fast, tracked and insured. Also, We have sent a-couple of the G-Series swords to Paul, Paul is one of out wholesalers! He rated our G-901 Chikara Katana 5 stars!! Thankyou Please let me know if I can be of further assistance All the Best Brett Butt www.globalgear.com.au0397615999 U8 114 canterbury rd kilsyth Vic 3137

Maybe it's best to wait a bit, as per this follow-up from them...gen 3 fittings, steel, on the templar, at least, and a wire-wrapped grip are all nice improvements, I'd think. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Another note about the G-Series European swords, The Gen 2 are fantastic! We viced up a G-801and bashed the pommel several times with a hammer and the Pommel didn't even loosen, The Gen 2 swords have been peened properly, The only side effect was the tang bent a little "but that's to be expected" We currently have Gen 3 Templar's and Solingen's in production. The Templar will feature steel Hilt and Pommel with a wire wrapped handle with a new upgraded "polished wood" scabbard! So keep an eye out for those.
