I have a "combat commander spartan sword". I got it accidentally. It's heavy like a rock.
also, the edge is not that great,, I probably can work on that a little bit, but one bad move with that much heft and I don't see the point in making some super nice edge right now. I have yet to feel good about cutting with it. It's a nice funny looking bat right now.
If I try to cut a bottle sideways,,, either the bottle explodes from the top and bottom, ,, or because the sword is so heavy it's not even moving so fast enough to burst the bottle, and the bottle gets effectively catapulted into the prickly burs. Then I am already barefoot so I find out that plants are much better at cutting than I am. Then I seem to forget about the cockly burrs and try to see how far I can bat it again. I mean cut it.
Having had some success learning to better cut with other odd shapes that worked like bats, now I'm thinking the sword is not as bad as I must think,,, it's just my skills that suck. So does anyone have any theory thoughts on proper "spartan sword" cutting technique??
specifically the combat commander model, which is probably more top heavy than other models, and more floppy, and more weight overall, (maybe like 80 lbs),,, but the blade shape is roughly the same as any other spartan sword on the market,, ,basically the cutting edge is in the same place and about the same angle. surprisingly I can't imagine what I should be trying to make the blade do. I do have more cardboard, which is nice because i can try things without swinging so hard. I will try some bashes. I mean slashes.
I seriously can't believe the blade is as thin as it is,,, I must have only cut a milk jug ever,,, it works like a bat.
