I have this sword. www.budk.com/Secret-Agent-Tactical-Ninja-Sword-5926The sword has a major problem, it's the parachord handle and how slippery it is. I removed the parachord. (no this has nothing to do with a thread I was back and forth in about handles, it's just coincidence and I am separately inspired to want to talk about this sword). Once I removed the parachord, I can tell I will have to eventually do something like duck-tape around as a grip, but for now it's just as it was minus the parachord,,, there are these "snap tite" plastic scales that are a bit loose but not coming off. I have been using the sword for bottle cutting. It's unreal how amazing it is. I have spent a lot more money than the list price of it, and had much worse performance. This thing cuts heavy duty cardboard tubes like butter, and passes through soda-bottles with a nice sound and a super clean plastic edge left over. No ripping, no scraping, just clean buttery cuts. Here I am participating in the "Scholagladiatoria lockdown challenges". : I would have never thought a sword like this would be such a good performer. It is a humbling experience to use it. This thing lists for like 20$ or less, sells everywhere, and right now is definitely what I would have next to my bed if a sword was the magic. I scoffed at this blade for years, got one in a random box (along with some other swords that really are all crap for higher prices), and now have a new number one. crazy. Anyone else have one of these??

Please watch out; these things break without warning! Theyre all stamped out brittle, unhardened stainless steel - nothing more... horrible accidents have happened and will happen again.

Everything else aside, just as a personal note... For Frigg's sake, people, turn your phone horizontal when shooting video!

Here I am again, with another model that's working pretty well. Never yet resharpened, used on cardboard tubes (fabric tubes, rather substantial), and bottles. I have to also say it feels like deadly in the hand, especially the stab.
I will probably do the same wrap on the first sword in the string, I still have the chord and I think I can do it so it doesn't slip.

You should really work on learning to use your legs and hips more! That way you don't need to wind up with your arm so much, you get more power and speed into the cut, the follow through stays more in control and you don't pull yourself out of balance.

The sword looks like a good performer. Don’t take it offensively but following through with MOK’s input you need to work on your technique now. Put some body English into it. As is, in a tight you are leaving yourself wide open. Just a suggestion.

They are not meant for real use (even though BudK might say so) - they're wallhangers/SLO's that can cause a lot of damage if it breaks (which most probably, it will when pushed to it's low limits). Please check out this video to see what can happen with low quality "swords"

LG, I can’t find it right now, but I think someone already posted that video as a warning to him in another thread. His comment was that’s an old video, implying that it’s not valid anymore. I could be remembering wrong though. Over on the SBG site there is a compilation video that shows sword failures of many types. The one that stood out to me was the kids in a house, one swings the sword in the direction of another and it breaks off. Looks like it stabs the other kid in the back. I’m really glad I didn’t get into swords until I was older.

I literally have no skills. you know that's why it's fine if I use these mall ninja swords. I have literally no skills. I will work on that, but it won't be some miracle. I'm watching other "scholagladiatoria lockdown challenge" posts by other of his viewers, and there are some really good slicers. They make small seemingly slow motions and make very good clean cuts on the same target that I hit with all my might. I'm not sure how to go about learning. I am such a beginner I don't even know where to start.
