You will find swords made by and for fencers far far above the swords made to please backyard cutters and functional decor.

I am very interested to see a detailed review and pictures when you receive this sword. I am on practically the same hunt that you had been on before you decided to go with this rapier.

Looks fantastic. I'll wait impatiently for your evaluation. Looks symmetrical (important for a lefty). How long (overall) and how much does it weight?

Glad I bumped these threads. I had a feeling you may have already received it, but you never know. Some people talk about waiting years for someone to make a custom sword for them. I'm not surprised it's on the heavier end of the spectrum, but is it well balanced and handle well? Does it feel heavy or hard to control the point? The blade width is a tiny bit wider than I expected, and I'm also a little surprised to hear that the ricasso is under 8mm. I thought you wanted something at least 8-9mm.. Though, 7mm is close. Maybe I'm splitting hairs lol. Either way, it looks awesome for sure man! Congratulations! You may want to watch out though, I think I hear some drunk guys eyeing up your lady XD
I don't want to pressure you, but if you do happen to get some spare time to write a comprehensive review, I would love to hear all about it. If you are so inclined, that is.
If you don't mind me asking, around how much did you spend? I'd like to know what kind of ballpark I'm entering lol.

UPDATE: All this talk has made me actually take out my caliphers again and measuring it at the central ridge more carefully at the ricasso it is indeed 8.02mm thickness! Victory!

Total length: 47.75 inches Blade length: 37 inches Blade width at widest portion: 1.2 inches Entire hilt length: 8.75 inches Bone grip section: 4 inches Weight: 3.5 - 3.6 lbs (scale is being a little finicky) POB: About 3 inches Is that 3" POB from the guard or quillions, as it is the quillion measurement (where your fingers are placed) that will give the POB?

I've only ever known of one other person who had some rapiers advertised as having an 8mm ricasso. I don't know that he made sharps though, and I don't think he is currently making anything. I believe I read that he had stopped because of health issues. It was Danelli Armouries. He has some beautiful looking swords on his website.
I do remember you saying you wanted something as stiff as possible. I do too, but maybe I will have to be a little more flexible on that since I kind of want a longer, slightly thinner blade.. pun intended haha. That English hilt definitely does look the beefiest. And it looks damn cool as hell too! I don't think I've ever seen a rapier with a hilt/basket like that.
Three ring swept hilts have always looked cool to me. I think I prefer straight quillons to the S, but theirs is just the S with that hilt. I have to say though, I have a real hard-on for the rapier and dagger pictured when you first go to their main page. I reeeally really like those. They have nice stuff, but of everything, the rapier on the front page and the English one you got are by far may favorite.

It also makes perfect sense now for the weight. 8mm thick with a 30mm width and the 37 inch blade is definitely going to be on the heavier side with the hilt component choice. This is great. I am definitely going to do that review now. Please do! That's awesome, I'm glad to know they will actually special order for the 8mm ricasso. Maybe I could ask for a just slightly less width of 25-26mm. It may still have the weight anyhow with 42-43" blade. But that's kind of a must for me

3 inches from the very top of the hilt(guard) is where I measured it but that is an interesting point to bring up. I will measure it from quillion and the guard again to be sure and I'll update this post. UPDATE: 3 inches from guard, 5.5 inches from quillions. Yes, I can't stand that, as it is the same with my CS Shell Rapier. I wish companies understood that POB is (or damn well should be) from where your fingers are, not starting from the guard, which can be inches away from hand...duh, hello So POB is actually 5.5". Glad you got to 8mm, as that Darkwood is tough, more beastly than my CS, which is no small feat.

You wanna marry it and get it pregnant. Can't we start with the steak dinner? What's the rush? There's time for romance. Well, ok, but at least an oil rubdown and gloved fondling is called for...to avoid rust & fingerprints, naturally.

I should have mentioned that the good news to this measurement (aside from bad news POB) is that your 37" blade really is a 39 1/2" blade...reach being a BIG deal with rapiers.
