I'm very interested in this sword and I can't really find anything about how it's forged or any pictures about it. When I try to look it up the episode from Forged in fire comes up and only one picture that looks like it in google. Can anyone here share some pictures and information about this sword, please?
I haven't seen this episode you're talking about but if you want a sword that looks like something from Forged in Fire, your best bet is to contact the competitor who made it and ask him to commission a reproduction of whatever he made.
Beyond that, no one knows what the "Sword of Mars" was or what it looked like. The only historical reference that exist is from "The Origin and Deeds of the Getae [Goths]" written by Priscus (a Greek historian who reportedly spent time with and got to know Attila in person) but unfortunately we don't have his writings directly preserved. Only selected quotes by Jordanes, a Roman historian writing 50-100 years afterwards.
If you want a sword that you could argue is based on what the "Sword of Mars" could have been, you can choose any sword that strikes your fancy from a period between 100-400AD and argue that it "could" have been the same type of sword as Attila's. We still don't know what ethnic group the "Huns" belonged to but we do know they encountered nearly every European and Asian culture of that time so it's likely they picked up ever weapon type they came across that they liked. It could be anything from a simple Gladius, to a Spatha, to and early Migration era Germanic/Scandinavian sword, all the way over to Chinese swords of the time and anything in between.
Brother Nathaniel: I just sent an email to craig to ask him if he might consider the Pommel as a mace head but the email inbox was full apparently. Hope all is well with A&A
