As I expected, but I am still sad to see this. As the pandemic destroying many business and even global logistic (and don't forget China is a big source of swords AND the virus), I suspect that many sword retailers are going to shut down or even collapse. Hope KOA reopen soon.

I hope so too. This situation is going to wreak havoc over every industry and the sword industry is already pretty weak. I suspect this will close many doors unfortunately. Hopefully governments will help all of the small businesses out so they can get to the other side of this. Let’s hope they open up again. Great company.

Dunno how much "market share" exactly does KOA have, but I think it is one of the biggest sword seller. Hope at least KOA can survive this pandemic.

I posted it in the Albion in stock page, but KOA is taking orders and shipping, but no sharpening service and extended ship time...

Site says they are at something like 10% staffing, but working through orders. I think this is going to be the case for a lot of businesses. The doors are open, it's just going to take longer.

AS some of you noticed, KOA announced that they are back, just takes longer time to do their jobs. Good.

Unfortunately, they have closed down again. Here's their new message: Kult of Athena will be closing until further notice as we comply with the mandatory Shelter in Place order issued by the Illinois Governor. We will not be taking new orders until we reopen. We do not know precisely when we will be allowed to reopen but we hope it is soon. We were trying to continue operating with a reduced staff, but that has proven not to be possible. **Customers with existing orders: All existing orders will be filled, and we hope to have all in stock orders shipped by the end of the week or early next. We will be checking emails during this time, so if you need to get hold of us please email orders@kultofathena.com. We hope everyone is staying as safe as they can out there and we very much hope to be open again soon.
I noticed a change 2 days ago, but it was a notice that they were getting bombarded with emails regarding " Where is my shipment? Why hasn't it shipped yet?" You think people could read the notice and settle down a bit during this very difficult time and not be impatient for a nonessential item... nothing like stressing already stressed and understaffed businesses huh...

The reason we disabled ordering again temporarily is because we were receiving about as many orders as the skeleton crew still working there could handle. To prevent us from falling too far behind and unable to deliver orders on a reasonable timeframe we had to stop accepting orders for now.
When we can finally run again with a full crew we hope to have everything back in working order.
For any of you who have an order with us at the moment thank you for being patient. Most people are understanding of the unusual and difficult circumstances many businesses find themselves in as of late. Those few who can work are putting in many hours to get your orders filled as quickly as they can. Necessarily it takes notably longer when most of the workforce is at home on a shelter in place order.

Matt, Thanks for taking some time to update us on this. I cannot imagine how much stress this situation is causing for you guys (and other small business owners). Hopefully this ends sooner, rather than later, and everyone can get back to their lives. Thanks again. Good luck and good health to all.

Just so you guys know, KOA seems to be operating to some capacity right now. It says orders may not ship till May, but I received a sword I ordered a week ago after just a couple of days.

I am glad I jumped at the opporuntites to buy from KOA earlier in the year;
- Albion Alexandria - Albion Tritonia - Complete set of flat ring,wedge riveted chain maille (hauberk/coif/chausses) - Couple of Gambesons - Admiral Lord Nelson 5 ball spadroon - 13th century Helm - other 'stuff I cant remember. They are a pleasure to do business with.. I hope they all stay safe and healthy during these "interesting times"...
