Its partly forged, and partly stock removal. Already DH in oil, I was looking to make a slender blade in the shobu zukuri style, as they're quite scarce.
Nagasa = 19.6 inches nakago length = 6 inches sori = 1/2 inch mihaba = 1 inch kasane = 8mm at the munemachi

Wow, we've got ourselves our very own James Raw, folks!
I'll be interested to see what the hamon looks like when etched out. What grade of steel did you use?

Thanks guys! I used EN45 springsteel, its quite strong I doubt I'm going to get a very pretty hamon as its quenched in oil, if I get one at all. Anyone know of a place where one can get iron oxide? I don't mean an actual place, but more like where should I look at my local shops, what is it used for?

Ha!
Iron oxide is RUST!!
Use the black flaky fire scale left over from forging. Grind it into a fine dust and mix it with vegetable oil. Filter the mixture through fine mesh, such as that used by autobody paint sprayers whilst mixing paint, then use as a polishing agent. The Japanese use such a mixture, called nugui, as one of the steps in finish polishing.
I don't really see the point.

There is no use trying to use nugui unless you have labouriously gone through the rest of the hand stones.

Yep I decided against that idea, now I'm just going to sand it up to as high a grit as possible, and if there's still no hamon visible I'll try to bring it out with acid.
