Here are the still photos. l have to edit the video. We had a FANTASTIC time. Marcus has an excellent training gym, I am very envious! I don't pretend I'm an expert, and I don't represent anybody but me. So this wasn't a "which style is better" or "which weapon is better" type of thing. It was just two guys goofing off with some swords (or sword simulators) We spent some time looking over his extensive collection and fooling around for a bit. Then we went to his gym and did some sparring. After that, we exchanged some techniques. And the infamous denim target. I took care of that- no worries. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay! And it was over all too soon.

I found out today at my company HQ (which is in Germany), one of the guys there is into martial arts, swords and boxing. And he's taking me to Solingen later this week on the company dime! I am going to point him to this forum tomorrow and I'm sure he will be joining us here.
This really is an international forum. Anywhere I go I am sure to run into a person with similar interests. Sure, there are a few jerkwads, but that's anywhere you go and they really don't matter in the end. So be assured, if anybody is in mid-Atlantic east coast USA- let me know. We'll get together and do swordsy stuff and be total nerds!

This is what it's all about! Great work guys! ^^THIS^^ Not the attitudes, not the arguments, just some guys with a common interest sharing their hobby with each other. And the denim target? Look closely, there is not one, but two cuts on it. The first I cut with the ninja-to that marcus posted about in the Japanese sword forum. The exact sword he was posting about. That was the ninja-to everybody was discussing. It cut the denim target to the wood core in a single stroke without much effort. Argue all you want about blade shape, profiles, handles and guards, but you can't argue with the results. The second cut is with the blade I am holding in the photo. It's the CS machete. A machete. Shaped like a katana. Flat sheet steel machete. And it also cut the denim target to the wood. Again: results. Let's spend the bandwidth encouraging each other and learning new things instead of arguing and getting all upset over nothing. There is no fun at all in drama. And wherever possible, we should meet in the real world and enjoy each other's company.

It was a fantastic day and I can’t thank Rufus enough for coming over to have a go with me – despite of being completely jetlagged amongst other current impairments. He’s a great practitioner and freely explained some of his techniques/tactics/principles. Of course time is never enough, but what we had is invaluable, truly invaluable. So much more to get from than by reading or from video or merely sparring one guy and moving on without reflection – so I have to say a BIG thank you to Rufus for being willing to share and being a great teacher as well. Our meeting gave me a whole new different and very intense view into the JSA. I’m still thoroughly amazed and happy to have had the privilege to train with such a great swordsman and person.

You must go to the Klingenmuseum – It is a great place to visit and take some close looks at a wide variety of antique swords and blades in general, from many periods and places around the world.

I was surprised such quick and short cuts doing that amount of damage – amazing technique.
