A buck twenty. Also not too shabby. That's the kind of sword you aren't afraid to take out and use. It's not so valuable that you don't mind getting it dirty and scratched up. And if it eventually breaks, oh well- it's not much money.

Is the tsuka shimmed? I am curious how the fit is after reassembly of these swords? Does everything go back together tightly as it was? I have seen production swords come apart easily, but be a pain to get back together... And its nice to know when that isn't the case
PS - You should consider picking up a mekugi nuki, a little easier for mekugi than a hole punch.

What are those black marks(arrows?) pointing to. Are those chatter marks, bad file marks?

Glad to see you back in the sword game, my friend. I'd avoid using a punch, as it can deform the mekugi. I like using a bit of cut down chop stick or wood dowl. I've been out of the loop, what are the specs on your new sword?

And if it eventually breaks, oh well- it's not much money. Exactly so I can keep my real hamon sword in the safety of my closet XD Is the tsuka shimmed? I am curious how the fit is after reassembly of these swords? Does everything go back together tightly as it was? I have seen production swords come apart easily, but be a pain to get back together... And its nice to know when that isn't the case PS - You should consider picking up a mekugi nuki, a little easier for mekugi than a hole punch. I think it may be shimmed, goes back very tight, wouldn’t even be able to tell if there was no mekugi in it. Thanks I do need to get one but before this I was using an Allen key and realized why my pins were chipping XD thankfully pins are not expensive. The pin on my T10 is a lot tougher and handled the Allen wrench without chipping but these wooden ones need some more gentle care. Glad to see you back in the sword game, my friend. I'd avoid using a punch, as it can deform the mekugi. I like using a bit of cut down chop stick or wood dowl. I've been out of the loop, what are the specs on your new sword? Glad to see you back Adrian! Ya I need to get one thanks Welcome back Adrian. Hope your doing well. Not trying to derail, just glad Adrian is back. No problem dude, we are all happy to see him doing well Not too shabby for a buck twenty!

Well, those are the only ‘unnatural’ magic marker looking marks on the sword, so yes. It’s kanji for bamboo also known as 竹 (たけ) (Take)

Well, those are the only ‘unnatural’ magic marker looking marks on the sword, so yes. They look engraved, and somehow blackened.

I wonder what a sword with a full-body "Irezumi" style engraving would look like. They actually do full blade engravings but are a lot more money. I love kanji on the blades of my swords. I hate stamped words but engravings are awesome imo. I wanna be able to feel that it was engraved though and not just stamped. Here are a few examples of what I don’t like and what their full picture engraving
