nice, who prettied it up for u thats a big upgrade over the stock cord Yeah it was very well done. It was a real pain for him so I dont know how willing he'd be to do up another but I'll ask if hes ok with being credited. The pommel construction made it very difficult to get the measure just right.

Interesting. I have a Striking Eagle and a Heavenly Horse ordered, and I've been considering re-wrapping them in cord and leather (Albion style) when they arrive.

Yeah he did fantastic. Feels very good in the hand as well. I was worried it'd be too aggressive

Yeah same here. I'm pleased enough with these results though I'm thinking on just making a couple of mock handles and trying it. Buy cheap skins.

Thank you, Muffinslayer. yes, this was a difficult one for me. I have applied tons of samegawa, in many configurations but never in a case where both ends were closed off permanently. the nature of raw samegawa is it's incredibly hard and rigid when dry, so you can't shape it to a grip without first soaking it. the problem with that is once soaked, it grows in length, width and even thickness and will no longer fit in the intended space. with at least one end open, you can soak it, apply it and let it dry in place and then trim the excess where necessary. with both ends closed, I had to soak, apply, adjust and trim about 1mm at a time with it taking 2-3 days to fully dry in between. if you trim before it's fully dried, it can easily wind up being too short. this all also applies to width/circumference. anyway, it was a good learning experience here are some of my pics. I'm now referring to this particular coloring application as "Pomegranate Seeds"(for obvious reasons) and is actually a multi-step, muti-medium application I've been perfecting over the years. Enjoy ps - this sword is very impressive. super quick and elegantly deadly with a super wicked tip and a lovely pattern in the steel.

You have the most classy looking, almost antique style, customization I've ever seen. It makes every sword you customize look like a weapon made for a very high status person without being tacky
