Speaking of Jambiya however, do you know exactly why the scabbards have such a steep curve? I’ve tried to look it up but I can’t find anything. Just realized I never addressed this, but I honestly don't know. If I had to guess, a stylish way to keep it in the waist band/sash? Probably just amounts to aesthetics.

Hi. Affordable swords from North Africa are some Moroccan nimcha’s. Often they are hybrid weapons with the blade taken from European swords, and hilts made of horn. Most are 19th century, and are sold from France, and cost between $200,- to $600,- There are som in the U.S. , but those are often more expensive. The French took a lot of them during the Riffian war of the 1920’s. Pure Moroccan nimcha’s are or fake souvenirs, or high grade weapons of rulers. Before the wars (pre 1870’s) almost every farmer had his own sword, going from cheap made iron, to the hybrids i mentioned before.
