Since the founding of Han Empire, for 60 years its boarder was subject to invasion and slaughter by the Xiongnu, a Federation of skillful steppe horseman that raid the border town at will. After years of internal warfare, Han State was weak and population is thin and tired. For over 60 years, a policy of appeasement by sending money, silk, valuable goods and royal princess for marriage did only maintain a fragile and unstable peace. When the 16 year old Emperor Wu ascend the throne in 141 BC, the Han Empire was ready put this to a stop. With the production of advance weaponry and the active breeding of sturdy war horses introduced from central asia know as the "Heavenly Horse", the Empire finally strike back. The war between the Han Empire and the Xiongnu Federation last several decades with the total defeat of the Xiongnu. The Han Empire secure the trading corridor to Central Asia now known as the Silk Road. From that point onward, the world history and Chinese history change with the exchange of goods, culture and knowledge. One of the advanced weapon that play an important part in the Han Xiongnu war is the long and powerful Calvary Han Dao. At almost 4 feet in length and weight only 680g, yield by a warrior on a galloping Heavenly Horse, this powerful weapon can often kill in one strike. It was recorded in official history, that one Han soldier armed with this advanced Han Dao, could overcome 5 opponents. lkchensword.com/heavenly-horse

It reminds me a bit of the Caucasian shashka, and that certainly isn't a bad thing. It amuses me how often our species has independently invented/designed the same sorts of tools.
The Royal Arsenal and Heavenly Horse swords are almost begging me to buy and wear together like a Han daisho.
LK Chen Sword continues to impress me.

Great work. But for your records you need to edit your web page and the name of the sword. It should be "Cavalry"as they are mounted soldiers. Not "Calvary" which is the place that was just outside the walls of Jerusalem where Jesus was said to have been crucified. (It was also known as Golgotha)
So Cavalry are soldiers and Calvary a religious site.

Thank you so very much for catching that ! Lol. Simple mistake with that word and spell check would not have shown it. With web sites I have found that spelling can really affect the professional look/feel. Your swords are excellent by the way.Definitely on my wish list.

The Han dao are nice but I’m more a fan of the Tang or Song Dynasties. When does the Yue Fei replica sword come out? Haha just kidding. 😂 If any forges are making one though let me know...
Ma ti nan qu ren bei wang Ren bei wang cao qing huang chen fei yang Wo yuan shou tu fu kai jiang Tang tang zhong guo yao rang si fang lai he
^ Sorry, I only know the chorus. Trying to learn the rest of it. Awesome song though

Right before the Tang Dynasty is the short lived but very important Sui Dynasty (the rulers of Tang and Sui Dynasty were cousins) . There is very few Sui Dynasty Swords exist in the world and one of the best is in Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The New York Sui Dao is famous throughout China mentioned in all the books about Chinese Ancient Swords and blog and articles. LK Chen made the first replica of this Sui Dao and the fascinating stories of how this National Treasure end up in New York City can be found in lkchensword.com/double-dragon
