Pickles can vary wildly. Vinegar vs salt brine etc... Just saying... Sorry you can't eat them, but that leaves more for me. Salt brine wouldn’t be as bad, my parents always eat the dill kind that have a strong smell and just bleck

I know this'll probably make some of you want to barf, but when I get a late night hungry going on---I like potted meat and saltine crackers with a glass of buttermilk. Vienna sausages are good too---with a little Tabasco sauce. Beanie-Weeny also! I'm an old Texas oil-field hand, and this was the kind of stuff we could throw in the truck and it would keep FOREVER. It's mighty good at 3 in the morning when you just capped a well and you're 1000 miles from nowhere. I honestly do not find anything like that gross! It is an awesome preserving method and has kept Americans going in history and war for a long time. Canned goods with lots of salt are awesome imo. Most fond sardines disgusting were I am at but I never minded them or any fish for that matter.

Makes me wonder if it’s a Texas thing. My father loved buttermilk, I hate the stuff. He was from Texas, I’m not. And yes all you mentioned makes me want to 🤮. But whatever gets you back to sleep right. I can't go the straight buttermilk, but I can do the Bulgarian (?)- style. It's a little less bitey and more creamy. It also makes fantastic buttermilk pie, which is my Kryptonite. Give me a buttermilk pie and I'll eat the whole damned thing. If we are talking about dessert, a fresh loaf of pumpkin bread is basically irresistible to me. Pumpkin has such a good freaking taste I can literally eat the pumpkin guts when we make pumpkin seeds lol

Pumpkin and sweet potato pie taste virtually the same to me, and I can eat either one raw all day...especially sweet potatoes...natures candy.

Correction. I cut it out save the rum. "Can not do pickles, the smell makes me wanna gag tbh lol" Love pickles, olives, pickled onions, dates, raises, but now I'll eat them at with a meal and not as a snack. Idek how man. That smell of the vinegar is just ugh Sweet pickles do not appeal to me but if served I’ll eat them, no problem. What I am now eating is from Germany and is more equal to what Americans call kosher. The smell of vinegar does not bother me and that too comes from Germany and is spiked with similar seeds as are the vinegar and onions I bought earlier this week. My horseradish, or rábano picante, meerrettich or whatever name you choose to call it also comes from there. I’ll probably lunch on squid today as I find that a good substitute for cheese that I love and over indulge in jacking up the cholesterol if not careful. Cheese, bread, and wine as a group was a favourite and I ate many a midnight meal on that before I realized consequence.

Cheese, bread and wine? That's just a snippet. Bring on the grilled beef, good German sausage, and shrimp-kabob's! Not to mention the lovely chicken hot-wings dripping in Buffalo sauce....

Mom would sometimes cook up a batch and leave them out and we’d peel and eat them cold. I wish I had one now. As for raw pumpkin yes. I was making a jack-o-lantern and couldn’t resist. Once was enough.
