i saw a video about how to wrap the ito around the tsuka but, haven't found how to finish the thing. i think i would be able to do it but,not able to finish it i mean, how to attach it to the litle thing at the end of my katana( sorry i didn't find the name ) and how to be sure it will stay there for sure. marc

thanks slavia, but, i saw this part too, the only thing is that i do not understand at this point how to pass the ito the 2 holes, one each sides of the knots. and make it disapear. i just lokked and do not find where it goes loll

Great to hear! Post pics if you have a camera. I have also found that a good trick is to use a paperclip to "thread" the ends of the ito through the kashira and under the maki, etc when you need to.

Slide the kashira on to the loose ends of the ito after tying the first knot. Then position it on the end of the tsuka and the ends will be ready to start the knot on the other side.

ok everything is clear , now on, how much long the ito has to be to wrap a tsuka of 9"3/4 because the ito that he send me doesn't look to long lol want to be sure before tying it

The way I learned is to add 3 to the amount of length of your tsuka in inches and that would be the number in feet. For example; 12in tsuka needs 12+3=15ft ito for custom tsukamaki.

I just tied a not, lol. I watched a video and saw those same diagrams and I still couldn't do it.
