Come on dude. Name a martial art that isn't made up. The questions are who made it up, when it was made up, what it's supposed to do for you, and whether you can work it.
I went to Japan and tried to ask the god of the Katori shrine some follow up questions and got nothing. At least you can email, call, or attend a seminar with Mr. Williams and get some kind of answer out of him.

I have met him, seen him demonstrate his art and compete and I attended a seminar that he gave a brief block of instruction at. He is a nice guy and has done a lot for the sword community with his Bugai Trading Company. I also knew Don Angier personally, I have trained and competed in Japan as well ( I try to not bother the Gods). All I am saying is that he made it up himself and I am surprised it still has legs given the general decline in popularity of JSA here in the US over the last 10 years. I am glad to see there is still interest in JSA. Many Americans have been less than impressed with all the JSA politics and strife in Japan and fighting over who controls what. It kind of undermines all the bushido they have been giving lip service to all these years.

Probably the best thing Mr. Williams did for his art was to back away from the heavily implied Yanagi Ryu associations, and let it be a thing to stand on its own feet.
Really, I think the decline is just in interest in studying a sword art. People don't want to train swordsmanship, they just seem to want to do calisthenics and playfight. But we don't need to clog up this thread for that discussion.
Mr. Robinson is a good dude who has been nothing but kind, generous, and welcoming to me and my friends since I met him. Its hard enough to find people who want to train, we don't have to make his job any harder regardless of what you or I think of the art in question.

All I can add, is that I have watched some of Mr. William's demo videos and his skill is very impressive. I would not wish to go up against him, sword to sword. He knows his stuff, regardless of what name it is given. The guy definitely is deserving of respect. RinC
