Good Evening,
I’ve been going to a HEMA club for the last six months studying Fiore (a 14th century fighting instructor). I’m wanting to buy my first sword. I’ve been doing a lot of browsing but if I’m honest I still don’t have a clue.
I kind of want something lighter, different to the normal bog standard blade. I really like the Windlass Blacksword or Bosworth but reviews seem critical. I’m really after something with an upward curving cross guard that can be used for practicing with people at class (so blunt edge) but I’ve no idea if I’m being in realistic.
My budgets probably around £200. I can maybe push it a bit higher but this is probably going to be my only sword for a while so I don’t just want a standard one - I want to try and get something a bit different.
All suggestions or advice welcome.

The Windlass Blacksword is not really option because guard is of cast zinc alloy/pt metal, if i remember correct. The Bosworth is just fine, cant see problem here. Cold Steel Italian is good sword for Fiore style according to some german fencers, but here also are discussions. Viktor Berbekucz from Hungary does fine HEMA gear for its price, but very basic stuff, no fancy looks here. Hanwei Tinker Longsword is great, both blunt and sharp blade variation, can be changed with screw nut. Hanwei Tinker Bastard is also considered good, but more basic. Hanwei Rhinelander ver nice too. If you are from UK, check red Dragon swords from your Knight Shop. Or Armor Class from Scotland.

I’m still getting my head round all of this but loving it. Our group got a couple of Viktors swords and they are good but just not quite what I’m after - I might end up resorting to one of them and saving up for one I really want... I hadn’t heard of Armor Class so I’ll go have a browse!
