Thanks to the excellent info provided on this forum by highly respected members Uhlan, Afoo and Dave Kelly, I plucked up courage and bought a Windlass Rheinfelden. Although Rapiers and Sideswords are not really “my thing”, I realized my collection was missing one as a reference point, and I’m very happy I did add the Rheinfelden. I have handled the KA Sidesword and the shorter Hanwei version and must say I much prefer the Rheinfelden, for its construction and handling. It feels more solid than the KA/Hanwei and still handles admirably. Highly recommended.
Next to a CS English Backsword for comparison…

Glad you like it. Bought it from Irongate? Looking at it with fresh eyes it still is one well designed and elegant sword. The basket of the CS looks...big for the shorter blade. Go Rheinfelden!

Got it from outfit4events.com. For less than they offer at Irongate. The CS is my all-time favorite post-medieval sword, in terms of handling and function (the English, the English, the English are best!), closely followed by the CS La Fontaine Sword of War. The Rheinfelden looks good and is great fun to play with
