I've never watched the series, only clips from YouTube---but the scene where the dude got his 'crown of gold' made me cringe.

I don't even need to provide the clip, but the entire blowing up the Sept of Baelor sequence was some of the best television ever. Melisandre's final scene was TOO good for the show and certainly undeserving of the final season. There was a lot happening there in the subtext, especially in the musical score, i.e. a few references to Wagner's music.

There's quite a few good ones, but this is one of my favorites.

I'd have to say when Lord Baelish was passed sentence on. That scene was done so well. It brings a smile to my face every time I see it.

Torn between "The Battle of the Bastards" & "The Long Night." Epic battles that were pretty much whole episodes!

Season04e09... the wildling assault on the wall, getting a sympathy glimpse at Ser Alissar, Jon vs.the big Thenn, Thormund on the move, Grens last stand, Pips death, the cool Ed, the sad thing with Jon and Ygritte... BIG cinema is there!

I know BotB was mired with horrible conditions and tons of production problems, but it ended up being the most intense of the battle sequences IMHO. Maybe because some of the blood and all of the mud was very real.
In the context of the show, I *loved* how it showed the "hero" Snow to be essentially a traumatized and man who ultimately just longs for death. He does almost everything he can to get himself killed. Right down to the end where he opts to let Bolton shoot arrows at him as he approaches.
