This is a sword I bought a while back on ebay. It was advertised as a Celtic sword. It has what could possibly be a maker's mark, but I'm not sure. I know this isn't an original or antique, just curious if anyone recognizes it. The overall length is a little over 23 inches. The blade does attract a magnet. The marks on the blade are also on the back of the scabbard. That's about the extent of my knowledge of it.

It doesn't look like anything I've ever seen. But I like it

It looks rather vikingish to me. Yea aside from length and the tip, it looks like a viking sword. Amazingly far off from a Celtic sword

Considered as a fantasy short sword, I like it a lot. I would probably buy one if it came from a known maker with a decent tang/temper.

It looks rather vikingish to me. Excellent thought! I ran a quick search on Viking runes. It looks like the upward pointing arrow means Warrior. And the other symbol means Fertility. That doesn't really help with determining where the sword is from, but still cool. Thanks!

The knotwork is Celtic and the Nordic horde did storm Ireland and the big island. To be honest, it looks like it is one of Michael "Tinker" Pearce's pieces. The arrow a variation of his maker's mark and the dated blade something Michael keeps track of. The other mark might be his wife's, Linda. Yep, that's one of mine. I called it a 'fantasy short sword.' The maker's mark is one I used prior to mid 2015, a norse 'T' rune for Tinker. The 'G' rune on the blade is for Grendel from Red Troll Forge, who was a winner on Forged In Fire the other year. He made the cable damascus for the blade. Serial number indicates that this was the 126th blade made in 2001.

So it's basically an actual treasure relic, then. Good job OP.

It makes me think of the barrow-blades from the fellowship of the ring.

I never would have thought. Thanks to all for helping me track this down. And to Tinker for his quick response.

If it were not for your fantastic H/T-line of swords, my collection would be severely lacking! One of these days I WILL own a piece made by YOUR HANDS. (Probably when my ship comes in, and I'm waiting at the airport. ) I need some SEAX......reeeeally need some SEAX.

That’s a really cool find. How does it balance?

I don't have any exact weight or balance measurements, but I'll take some tonight and post them. It's definitely a hefty feeling little sword. Not blade heavy at all.
