Hey Everybody,
I've been on the market for an Albion Svante but I haven't pulled the trigger because I'm not sure if what you get is worth $4k when you can get two of their swords for that price. I've decided to explore the possibility of commissioning a custom quality piece and seeing what there is out there. I would love to get some recommendations of swordsmiths on the forum so I can check out some of their work.
I'm of Swedish descent and a Nelson (was changed from Nilsson during the immigration process to the US), which made the Svante an attractive blade because of the two connections (even though Nilsson is one of the most common surnames in Sweden). I'd be looking for something similar to connect to with the sword I end up with.
I'd appreciate any suggestions!

if u want an accurate recreation of the Svante just go with the albion one, because im 90% sure any of the custom smiths capable of doing one that would be a accurate recreation would charge more cause its a really complex piece. Albion charges that price for it because it is as close a recreation as they could get to the original, painstakingly researched by peter johnsson, hence why its part of the museum line not the next gen line which is not exact recreations of any specific sword but instead swords designed by peter johnsson

if u are just looking for a swedish style sword that is historically accurate and similar tho i can recommend a few people off the top of my head
Tod's Workshop Forja Fontenla Mateusz Sulowski Damian Sulowski Maciej Kopciuch JT Palikko Robert Moc Rob Miller Gael Fabre Fabrice Cognot
there are way more I have not thought of off the top of my head u can see in the custom sword makers thread all the guys i listed have wait lists starting at 6 months all the way up to a couple years and price depends on complexity and what exactly you want starting at $1500 at the minimum, what is your budget? that would help in who i can recommend

Thanks for the suggestions. If I went custom, I would hope to get something original and not a copy of the Svante.
$2k-$3k price range would be ideal. The downside is I don't have a specific type of blade style or design in mind. The most expensive swords in my collection is a Ronin Elite katana followed by a few Darksword Armory blades. This would be a big step into a whole new world for me.
