Is the heater aluminum with a rolled edge?

i like the roman auxiliary looking one Yea same. I dig the viking one even if metal rims aren't historical. I would prefer a non disposable shield to a disposable one

The Viking shield is made by Windlass its far too heavy though it weighs 13 lbs! The Roman cavalry shield is made by Windlass it seems a little too small though! The heater shield is made by Lord of Battles and its 18 gauge steel, seems decent! The buckler is made by GDFB its pretty effective!

My only criticism is them handle feels like I could bend it with my own hands. Maybe I couldn't, but it feels that way. With a new hard wood handle, I would enjoy it entirely As for the viking shield... You can never really tell how heavy 13lbs is till you hold it lol. I curl 30lbs easily, but once I have a 3lbs sword it feels a bit sluggish I might have to check out that lord of battles shield

Honestly, at that price, I don't even care if the leather straps suck. The holes are drilled and the shield is formed. More than I need to make it work

The steel heater rings like a bell...wow they are loud. Aluminum isn't so bad, buy far more fragile. But still loud. A friend has one similar.

Everyone should have a GDFB buckler or two or three.

Everyone should have a GDFB buckler or two or three. Yea i wanna get a second one. Fantastic little things I got mine. It's the first shield that I bought, followed by an overweight Windlass heater. Then my self built centre grip round shield, which is my favourite, but not by far the buckler is a close second.

Just glue a layer of canvas over it, then paint. It will make it much more bearable, and look closer to a period piece, just make sure you rough up the steel to give the glue something to grab.
