It's the steel on the inside that counts.

Lovely, indeed. I would have gone a little lighter on the rust, but overall, very nice. I love this particular sword....which SOMEONE (storm) has two of coming in---supposedly. One of them 'spoken-for'............

There were some Windlass XIV on closeout at Museum Replicas around 18 months ago that kind of appeared out of nowhere. I alerted this forum and bought one myself, and I remember celegon (among others) was very interested, as the price after discount was a crazy $95 or something.

I like. The seam seems to have gotten away from Huerta in a spot or two, but all in all I like. No doubt it's more comfortable than the original. I did a simple cord wrap on mine and it made a big difference.

IMO - rust makes me crazy...hate it. And the grip looks better, but how comfortable would that be? I mean, it looks like it would cause blisters at speed. But great eye candy

I love decay and rust. To me, shiny, polished surfaces make weapons look unreal, like toys or SLOs. Caveat: I am an archaeologist, so I have a skewed perspective. The Most Real things to me, the things that tell the most compelling stories, tend to be the dirtiest, most patina'd.

While I don’t like a mirror polish on steel, brass, or... I’m satisfied with a satin or a somewhat dulled finish. I’ll tell you what I’ll do; If you “love decay and rust” and since I live in the tropics, close to the rain forest in fact, if you send me your sword(s) on return you’ll be like a kid Christmas morning, I’ll guarantee. Anything for fellow forum mate. Hehe

I know my rust-bane is just me being crazy. Some swords do look better and more...real with dings and blemishes. Like scars, it shows character.

Yeah, I remember but I didn't want to mention and have you stagger down memory lane on my account. I've ordered blades at crazy deals myself, then I get an e-mail telling me they were out of stock or there was a mistake...DAMN YOU! The good news is there are often great deals, and you REALLY remember those.

I think that must have been when I got this one. Followed the tips... $85 total with SBG discount. Amazing deal.
