The item in question: www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=AH3829N&name=14th+Century+Great+Helm+%2D+20+Gauge+SteelI've been watching this one for a while, and I seem to recall it was 14 gauge in the past (it even still says 14 gauge in the description). Now it's listed as 20 gauge. I checked with KoA, and they pulled one from inventory. Sure enough, it's 20 gauge. So, two questions. (1). Anyone who bought one of these in the past, is the older model 14 gauge? (2). 20 gauge seems pretty thin to me, but I'm no expert. Would that be the correct gauge for a historical example of this kind of helmet, from this time period? Thank you in advance!

The lighter surviving intact great helms I've seen weights for are about 5 1/2 to 5 3/4 lbs. So about 2 lbs heavier than the Deepeeka. On average, a little over 50% thicker, assuming the same size.

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll pass on this one; too bad, it's definitely cool looking. I bought it when it said it was 14G and the helmet I got is 20G! Hmm, so there must have been a mistake with the previous description calling it 14 gauge. I suppose they must have just caught that.
