Nice looking helmet! I hope you get what you pay for. I've heard some real horror stories about buying helmets and armor online. Mostly from Amazon though. Etsy seems a little more 'classy'. Keep us posted!

I can only comment on the mail. I have the haubergeon and matching coif. It looks absolutely fantastic, but I would classify it as costume/ren fest only. The round riveted rings are pretty easy to break if you snag them on something. So far, I've only lost one ring in the underarm area on one side. The KOA photos really don't do it justice. It looks really nice in person, with a flowing black 'liquid-ish' appeal to it.

The riveted rings are pretty solid, but I just wouldn't do any hard reenacting or combat in it. No doubt, it would turn a sword or knife slash. I've worn it all day at Ren-Fest without a single issue and it's held up perfectly. The ring that broke on mine was due to snagging it on top of a chain link fence gate. It was actually my fault, because I jerked it free instead of having someone else see what I was hung up on.---- ------ Definitely better than butted mail though!

That will be plenty good for what I want out of it

That will be plenty good for what I want out of it :) I have used the Indian budget riveted mail in armored yield combat as have a few friends in my group. Some was bought from Kult of Athena and other from a prolific Ebay store by the name of All Best Stuff. It does hold up to a lot of abuse, much better than you would think. Sometimes ring break because the links are thin where the rivets go through but they are fighting worthy.

Seeing as how this thread was resurrected I wanted to let you guys know I have some bad news. This custom helmet fell through as the armorer ended up being unable to fulfill the order and I was refunded. This was some months back. Sad to hear. Do you got any of the other stuff mentioned above?
