That seemed to cut with little to no effort whatsoever. Very sharp little blade. I like it!

Great cut from a great blade. But...dude...on a clay fire pot? That scares the crap outta me...for your blade! At least use a toilet paper or paper towel roll under your water bottle! My nerves can't take it.......

And to think you were worried about the details of the finish! I think one of us said to not worry about those things because a good blade will prove itself in it's use. The more you use the seax, the less you will care about the minor cosmetic details and the more you will appreciate the workmanship of the blade design and construction.
It looks to me that is a blade you will be handing down to your grandkids. I have some very old knives and they are still just as good as the day they were forged. Quality is more than bling- it's functionality, reliability, durability, and longevity. A good knife is the most valuable possession a man could have.

Thanks guys! Yeah, I REALLY need a real stand soon. I feel confident I am not gonna strike the chiminea doing what I have been but I don't want to take the risk much longer, and I want to try some more techniques I can't do with my current setup.

I can't agree more. i have a feeling it will be used for generations to come.
