What are your thoughts/impressions?
Anyone have one? How’s the handling? Any input appreciated!

Hilt heavy costume piece.

Hilt heavy costume piece. Exactly what I thought when I first saw it. In some ways, it reminds me of the Windlass Pirate Captain’s saber, which I didn’t like at all. Too heavy overall, pob too close to the hand to make for any power in the cut. A round handle. Liked the blade, though. However, the Golden Coast should be over 100 grams lighter, with an approx. 5 centimeter longer blade and more blade presence. Stats don’t seem too far away from other praised pieces, such as the Zombie Tools D’Capitan Sabre (which I have no experience with, but which seems to have more blade presence at an almost equal weight and length), for example. Plus I’m somewhat on a fantasy trip, so I must admit I’m tempted to try one. Those looks, the blade shape, that hilt…

Hmm, reminding the stats, remembering how the other pieces I had used to handle, thinking about what Edelweiss said… Wondering, pondering… Should I try one of these mods… Attachments:

I have the Condor cutlass. I was going to do a review but I tore my Meniscus. I had surgery on Aug 20th. So when I'm all healed up I'll start up with my reviews that I've been waiting to do.

The condor cutlass was zippy but anemic for me. The point on mine was pretty round and the handguard was flimsy. Nice sheath.

Ah well. Regarding pure functionality, I won’t find a better mover/cutter than the CS Cutlass Machete on the repro hanger/cutlass market anyway (yup, the best mover/cutter for sure, even better than some if not many antiques – not regarding hand protection and historical “authenticity”, though; and not even considering the price point and durability either).

Thank you guys. From dry handling, I do like the Condor cutlass better than the CS machete cutlass. My biggest complaint is the handle on the condor. It's big and bulky. Mine is more square than rounded. My plan is to do a comparison review with both the Condor and CS machete cutlass's. It's going to be a hard test with three different types of testing.

There have been several complaints about the large grip and that's the only ones that I hear.

There have been several complaints about the large grip and that's the only ones that I hear. It can be sanded down for a better fit. I will do that after I finish with my review.

I would if I had one. The reason I don't is that I don't feel like going through the red tape to bring a sharpened blade in. That appeals to me more than the CS. If Condor had continued using the name 'machete' in the title like its forerunner there would be a possibility of bringing it in as a tool. Will most definitely be looking for your comparison.

It's not been mentioned but I went with the Windlass 1860 USN cutlass to satisfy my need for one. Very nice handling, good scabbard though very right handed only with that guard.
