At some point in the near future I am going to want to commission a custom rapier and/or smallsword. I was a big fan of the blade on the old Albion Zorro film sword, and I haven't seen anyone making anything quite like it. I tried to convince JKOO/Sinosword to give it a try, but they admitted that it was beyond their ability to reproduce (I honestly doubt that, but they clearly didn't feel comfortable accepting the commission). I have no doubt that one of the high-end makers (like Fable Blades, or Longship Armoury) could make me what I'm looking for, but I would rather not pay a premium price for a design I'm unsure of. Does anyone know of someone making high quality custom Renaissance era blades for $1000 USD, or less? They would need to be able to produce something similar to this sword: kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=AF36

A colichemarde sword? No custom but CS sells one. I never associated it with Zorro. (But my Patton sword wasn't a bullseye hit too)

As soon as someone wants top quality at bargain rates, I am generally going to avoid such inquiries but here are a couple of possible solutions. www.darkwoodarmory.com/index.php?ironjohnlogan.com/?I don't have answers regarding their work beyond being impressed with what I have seen and what I have handled. I will say that John Logan is extremely talented and capable, as well as open to some pricing but my fear in even making him better known is low balling and over expectation or food fighting by possible patrons. Scott at Darkwood will be a lot less patient but pretty straight forward about what he might be able to do and suggest at a set budget. John will not be rushed. Then there is Macdonald Armouries. Not in your budget. Neilo, invariably will simply be complained about. There are some Czech possibilities, I am sure but entirely outside my own loop of experience. Cheers GC

Castille? They do customs and have made sharps before. "Custom Builds Hi Folks! I am sorry to say that due to the number of custom builds currently in our cue at this time, I need to suspend new custom builds for a time and focus on getting caught up. I am the sole custom designer and builder as well as the owner and operator of the business. This means I have to split my time between designing and building the custom commissions and running the day to day operations that the armory needs to continue to thrive. I will be opening the custom build flood gates once again in a few weeks after I get caught up with the current custom cue. I apologize for any inconvenience that this brings but I must serve the customers already in line with the attention to detail that we have become known for. Thank you for your understanding! Sam"

The other consideration is location. Most of Europe is fairly close by, in the grand scheme of things.
One could also chat up Fulvio Del Tin and see it one of his existing hilts strikes your fancy and get him to do a colichemarde blade. He does do stock removal though, so would have to tool up.
Lutel?
