Hi there, so, as the topic already says, I'm currently looking out for a Smith in Europe who will do custom katanas. My budget its maxed out at 700€, which is already pushing it to the edge for me...
I firstly though about sinosword, but after calling the german customs who told me that I would have to pay 19% taxes and some fees, this option is probably gone for me. Sinsosword told me that they mark their swords as 50-100$ in order to avoid that much of taxes, but I'm not really sure if that will work out for me very well...anyone here from Germany who ordered from them and can confirm the safety of this practice?
Best regards

Most chinese forges will do that and it will work. But its most likely that you will have to pick it up from your local customs office and for that you need a proof of payment (paypal for example), taxes and fees are based on that. So even if they attach an invoice with a lower value, you will have to pay taxes and fees based on your proof of payment.
PS: im also from Germany ... ;)

Thank you for the answer, I guess I have to order from somewhere in europe then... (I just do not want to risk any trouble)

Schwertshop only offers the usual overpriced stuff in Gemany, even with taxes you will get a better sword for way less money. Apart from the taxes there no trouble at all ;)
PS: whats your budget anyway ?
