Not an advert, just reading through discussion and I would say that out of honbon, jkoo/Sino, and ryansword...ryansword has really stepped up their efforts in quality and concept builds. Though they could and most likely are just a outsourcing company that finds the vendor to do the work. I think that's how it goes over there not matter where you order from. So that keeps the prices low at least. But I have been seeing really rare and none offered pieces from them. I did have the sword of Omens made. Sry. I'm gonna be boasting that for a while...

I have been seeing a lot of negative toward Ryan sword lately.Complaints that customers have sent tsuba and fittings to be used for custom builds and the items sent have been sold by ryan sword or used on other swords that have been sold. Also not sending items that have been paid for, sending different items than were actually ordered (cheaper than paid for),not honouring warranty, and the management being extremely belligerent toward customers with any type of dispute. Actually have seen many people recommending not to have anything to do with ryan sword at all.

That sounds like old complaints. Not saying it's not happening but those complaints are also what is said about many other vendors. Haven't heard anything about the selling of other peoples parts but the other issues are common everywhere. There is also false bias from people just trying to steer business toward themselves. To each their own. Just use them for what you can and don't spend too much money on anything just so the burn isn't too bad if it sucks. That goes for any vendor. I mean, I did have ryansword just make me the Thundercats sword and it's freaking sweet! Great balance for the weight, perfect temper, solid AF! Very sharp, great taper. A really well done job all around considering.

If one person states a negative about an individual that owns/manages a company, then that is one complaint. When I see a thread with over 50 comments that are all negative,I start to think that there may be some truth to the claims.

Again, not saying that it's not true but honestly one could say that about almost any vendor from Gina. Well...not even vendors. I think how it goes is anyone gets and order and if it's not changed to a "custom" i.e. tsuka length, Tsuba #, or so on, they just do the pic and send it. If it is a custom ask, they try and find certain workers to do the work depending on how involved it is. They're just trying to please the order over wanting to create a real actual sword with all the properties involved with the correct weight distribution. And all trying to undercut each other in price. There is a level of quality for price but it's no where near what it should be. In some markets anyway. Others are scarce.

Forge direct is a Ronin katana "forge" advertised by Paul southren, if my deduction serves me. It's just Ronin katana making Paul's ideas. If you don't like Ronin katana you won't like anything they produce. I don't like Ronin katana because they refuse to change their issues that have plagued them for years, instead just blowing customer complaints off. They make enough from his marketing that they don't have to worry about returns or reputation. They get enough newbie money unfortunately,it keeps them in business. But then again, what people like is all subjective. Also too what ppl accept as done well. Everyone has their diehard fanboys. Respect. Well said, without hatred. Attachments:

Respect. Well said, without hatred. Maybe a little harsh....but that damn kashira keeps coming undone and falling off!! Fits in with my experiences... loose wrap, showing wood, uneven diamonds, one broken tip, one almost dull blade. Three or four lemons, all through KOA though.

The experience from the home site is the same. Koa just is another reseller.

Tsunami dragon sells T10 DH bare blades too. I wouldn't touch Tsunami Dragon with a 10 foot pole - not reputable, and way over priced with their items. *** Note: these are my (Luis Garza's) PERSONAL beliefs about Tsunami Dragon *** What you're talking about is RS's MO... they sell crap swords, they get "outed", they try to "fix" their reputation by selling "nice" swords and/or giving some away to "reviewers", and get a new set of people to say good things about them. The next group is set: they see all the "rave reviews" from new people, start ordering swords (Asian, Euro, or fantasy), and they start getting "good" swords. But then, as expected, the old RS comes out of hiding and starts selling poo swords again, and do it for as long as they can before being "outed" again. This has been happening for well over a decade, with no end in sight because people keep on giving them the benefit of the doubt without doing any kind of research. IMHO, RyanSword, SoN (a subsidiary of RS, which, to be honest, does sell other maker's swords as well), Tsunami Tiger - all of them are banes on the sword/collector's market since they steal trademarked intellectual property, they sell one thing and deliver a completely (and lesser) item; in essence, they take legitimate newbies/intermediate buyers and prey on them. These companies have NO redeeming qualities to them, making the industry look bad. *Edit: LG Martial Arts does NOT have any experience with Forge Direct swords, so they were not mentioned at all
