Anyone have experience with this one? I'm curious about it's handling and sparring durability.

I've heard of the quillons being very easily bent.

Ditto that, it was from a review though I can't find it atm. I've also never had a very good experience with the hanwei sparring lines. To be honest if your rapier style doesn't call specifically for the cup hilt and short blade combo I would just go for a castille or kvetun. It's not much more cash and will serve you far far better than the hanwei series. Sure they're cheap and readily available, but so is cold steel and I'm not lying when I say the difference between the brand's that cater specifically to fencing and brands like hanwei or cold steel is like the difference between having a high end or antique sword and a, well, hanwei or cold steel. I haven't had experience with this specific model mind you - but I have handled both variants of the swept hilt, and personally broke my instructors hanwei hutton sabre during light sparring. The hanwei rapier in question runs about 200 and change from KoA, has questionable hilt quality, and you can't choose any aspects of it. A castille costs 120 more at cheapest and you can choose blade length. The Kvetun costs 2.72 dollars more and has two different blade options. I know I suggest Castille a lot - but the options they offer and reputation they have earned warrants the price. (Mine took a 45° degree set once on a very hard thrust, and upon straightening it out it hasn't set yet. The more expensive blades are made with a different steel and heat treat which makes them much more robust. The problem I have had with hanwei blades is either they are too whippy, ill balanced, or just poorly designed, or all of those combined.

The kvetun looks excellent, I'm just so damn impatient I dont like to order from over seas if I can avoid it Also, castille has an economy rapier for $180 now. I've tried one from a club member, it isn't a work of art, but it's perfectly serviceable.

Honestly, the while the hanwei may have more bling, it's one and only redeeming factor as far as quality goes is how easy it is to get. Castille or Kvetun - both will take about 2 or 3 weeks to get if you order the economy from castille unless kvetun doesn't have stock on hand.

When I contacted Kvetun about a feder, they guessed the wait would be a few months. I assume the same is true for a rapier, but if they do have stock, 2-3 weeks is totally fine.

In any case, I'm taking a seminar on Destreza rapier this week, so I'll wait until after that before deciding if I even want one after all.

A couple months, yikes. For destreza I would want a more hilt balanced sword, and from what I've heard the hanwei cup hilt has a bit more meat to the blade.
Destreza is my favorite style to fight against funnily enough, this video shows my style done by someone quite a lot more skilled than me. I believe it is called blade refusal.
From SoCal 2018
And my own bouts about 8 or so months of decent practice into the system.
I am in the white mask. I'll say... it's funny how improvements in fencing tend to come in segments.
I think the style is a somewhat modified capo ferro.
