If you have the time, like an afternoon or a few, some draw filing couldn't hurt that blade - smooth out the flats, make the grinding slip in the fuller less noticeable, erase the central ridge and remove the negative distal taper, all with this one neat trick...

I am glad to hear your sword was better then mine . I have grown to accept the flaws in favor of the over all looks of the Deepeeka.
I don't fully understand the "at this price point" term to excuse poor workmanship.
I recently purchased one of the Battle Tested /Kawashima /Sugoi Viking style swords for the same price as my Deepeeka.
There is a world of difference in the fit and finish .

I wanted to update this thread by saying I did order a Deepeeka Fulham Gladius recently and it came in today. If anybody is interested in photos. I can try to take some this week. This is the model I ordered. www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=AH2007&name=Fulham+GladiusI would have to say that this is the nicest gladius for the money that I have seen or handled. It isn't perfect and this is to be expected at the price point. Could the scabbard width be a little thinner to better fit the blade dimensions? Yes. Could they have used thicker leather for the carrying system? Yes. Could there be less of a gap between the blade flats and the brass plate? Yes. But over all.. Easily better then the Windlass options( I own both the Windlass Pompei and Mainz). It is better in all ways, historically accuracy, REAL BONE on the handle,All real good quality materials, the scabbard actually holds the blade, etc. This is THE budget Gladius to beat IMO. Deepeeka is fairly well known iirc for their Roman stuff.

Please tell me where to buy a $40 chinatana with an "almost flawless" blade. My "almost flawless" blades are from Huawei or Sinosword, $120 to $199 And where to get those CS saber and cutlass. I am collecting since 2012 and never found such a cheap sword source. Oh, and discounts... dont count! ;-) On eBay you can catch the retailers at those prices as they will sometimes drop them for a very short while before raising them. Why buy a crowbar CS '1917' (misnomer) when you can buy a real Dutchy Hembrug or Milsco Klewang for far less if you are patient. Lots of Auction houses have no idea what they are selling and come up with weird and colourful names and descriptions. I got mine for well under a hundred with an original armoury scabbard. The Dutch ones from pre-war were licensed by Milsco in the USA and were used by Marinesin the pacific, they look nothing like a Navy 1917 model cutlass, but neither do the CS ones. (Mine has a Solingen made blade). Except for the stamps on the forte they are essentially identical and made from the original blueprints i've also seen online.

Idk about you but in the US on the sites I haunt I have never seen a good Klewang with Scabbard go for under 250 in recent years, pretty famous sword over here with USMC usage (or photo usage at least) in the Pacific.

Same, but I agree with the sentiment. There does seem to be tons of people willing to pay more for replicas than antique equivalents.

I'm sure all of us would rather have a genuine klewang than the cold steel one, but I have also never seen one in good condition for less than twice the cost of a replica.
