Yeah I’m cool with accusations of past wrongdoing, but at what point do we draw a line underneath it and judge more recent productions on their own merit?

Jordan Williams thank you. This thread isn't the appropriate spot for what's come about, and frankly the horse in question has been beaten so much the jockey's arm is in a sling.
Sad part is that I could've watched fencing videos instead of attending to this. grumble, mumble

That’s exactly my point, stop harping on about stuff that happened years ago (everyone not you specifically) and critique what’s produced now.

I'm not able to say fairly I think because I have 0 interest in what DSA offers. At one point I did, but no longer due to changing interest and their (to me) shady past at that time. I don't have a lot of money to give second chances to sword companies. Not a lot of folk do. There are even a lot of folks today who call everything from windlass and CS a crowbar SLO, and many are reluctant to give up a target of hate. I like seeing good experiences from DSA, just like every company out there. We're a niche community and we shouldn't be pushing out vendors who at least on surface level seem to be trying to change for the better.

Ok cool
Personally I give every manufacturer a second chance because everyone is at risk of “Friday Afternoon“ swords. Exhibit A - the thread on Albion wait times which includes examples of sub par Albion QA

You perfectly understood the point I was trying to make, siward. I also agree that this thread has been derailed in the most "crazy train" on ways, and I apologize for my part in that.

It is typical here for threads to get derailed and head down memory lane. "On the other hand, I recall there being bits about more creative designs being pilfered, which is a valid point of criticism. "The histories of various companies "ripping off" other's designs are often related to the historical similarities. This, often when replicating known museum pieces, or basic trends. A prime example would be the Black Prince or St Maurice swords. However, there are occasions where customs are copied and the cloning manufacturer mentions they did so "unwittingly". As to Darksword doing so, there have been a few occasions and the notes are here and elsewhere. No real reason to go further, aside from Eyal aplogizing at least a couple of times. One, a clone of a Jody Samson piece and another a custom created by Brendan here on SBG. In both cases, the Darksword examples were discontinued. On another example, it was an elven sword done by Christian Fletcher that was mimicked by Darksword with no apology but then, who wasn't emulating the LOTR swords. I don't know if Eyal has any licensing from the Tolkien Society but I'm not going to wag a finger about that matter, which should be apparent anyway. I do know Eyal did apologize in the two aforementioned instances and the Jody Samson migration era fantasy a case of an illustrator copying the general sword theme. Terry Maranda is an illustrator and sword designer. Although the page sites change, archive.org might be enlightening as to the past. Presently, some is quite accessible. www.artstation.com/artwork/NoDbq So again, in two fairly known instances, Eyal apologized for the clones. In other similarities of fantasy, I could link a cartoonist I know from my high school days that does everything from fantasy Flintstones to commissioned Gas Monkey art. If someone is to blame for some of the Darksword fantasy stuff, start with the designers and actual licensing issues. Loveless, Randal, Gil Hibben, Kit Rae; there are a host of clones out there. Some true homage and even licensed. Other times simply common enough to not pet the sweaty stuff so endeth a ramble I will likely repeat again, and again, and again sbg-sword-forum.forums.net/thread/37235/official-apology-regarding-darksword-icelander?page=1

I'm not able to say fairly I think because I have 0 interest in what DSA offers. Jordan, with all due respect, don't you see how this is problematic when you are posting paragraphs worth of material(whether it has merit or not) in this thread? I mean if one literally admits to having ZERO INTEREST in the brand that the review is about? I see why you would say that and I disagree. The point of my original post was to question the allegation that Ronin Katana was stealing designs. Then I pointed out that the reasons people dislike DSA goes farther beyond "maybe stolen maybe not" designs, and that this entire discussion it totally worthless. It'll happen again in a few months and has happened over and over again.

Okay folks, going forward lets give anything not related to the review a rest. People's feeling on DSA and their behaviors have been presented, then that horse beaten to death, then beaten some more. If any of you wish to continue the derailment please do so with each other via the PM function, not in this thread.

Oh... OK, when you say so. How many do you have? How many did you cut with? How many broke in your hands? How many of these were from the New Line though Paunch? Three with the newer logo...

No worries. It's almost not a DSA thread without some friction. Luckily no lives were lost in this one.
