Try using that and you stand a chance to add your own blood splatter to that awful paint job

Could be worse! Somebody could be selling it for thousands of dollars on eBay as a genuine antique old real samurai ninja katana zombie one piece naruto nihonto tachi sword knife blade cutter. (Yes, that actually happens.)

That actually looks pretty legit to me, though I have some questions about the hada. I can't remember if high5japan is considered a reliable seller, but considering the item ships from Tokyo, I'm gonna say this one's the real deal. You can't really judge by the price of an online auction. You say $700, I see $770+, with two days to go. It's likely to go double or maybe triple its current bid. As for the furniture, it could well be modern, at least the ito and sageo. People do change these things.

Idk it just worries me that the sageo and ito are very new looking and the samegawa is super clean. The tsuba seems legit to me tho.

Nakago looks good to me, and the polish, while not great, is at least not the same as most Chinese katana.
I don't know of any China-based sellers that claim to ship from elsewhere, but maybe some do. This seller's not one of them, from what I've seen of them in the past.
Again, furniture changes. Fabric and such decay faster than steel. As swords change hands, new owners will change it to suit them. It's not uncommon for a blade that may be several hundred years old to be given a brand-new set of furniture, especially if it lost the last one at some point.
I only have two antique nihonto. One with and one without koshirae. One is just a bare blade in a junk saya for safety. If I ever get it polished, I'll be getting it new furniture, too. That won't change its status as an antique.
My other wakizashi has old furniture that will probably be retired to a tsunagi of I ever get the blade polished. It's just in not-great shape. Ito snapped in one place, saya is worn and cracked, habaki doesn't really fit, I could go on. It's just the life of a working tool: parts change.
Edit: Second link looks legit, too. Again, you can't go by starting bids. They'll start low to get attention, than the bidding war hits on the last day.

A very different thing altogether. There are dishonest folk, and there are things to look for that let you know when you're dealing with them. It's all a matter of education and experience.

(Yes, that actually happens.) For the price of $29 it obviously is a toy sword meant for kids to play with. I doubt many zombies would be scared by this ☝️

I'll try to word things neutrally. Thing about High5Japan and few other eBay sellers is that they pretty much sell stuff to Western market that don't get sold inside Japan. They know that plenty of buyers here in the west just jump in as they are Japanese swords.
Sure they have some decent stuff every now and then but their decent stuff is not cheap.
First one above is a mumei katana in horrible condition as far as polish in considered. Second wakizashi is gimei (false signature) of 1st generation Hizen Hirosada, in pretty nasty condition. But yes both are real Japanese swords with unfortunately low collecting value, that is the reason they will go at least relatively cheaply.

I meant to refer to Jussi in my previous posts, specifically for the mei on the second auction as he's far more in-the-know than I am.
Both my antiques are mumei, and not very desirable by serious collectors, but I like them just fine so they suit my needs. Others are more particular.
