Antique Qaddara (origin unknown) Ooh, I like that one. Heck of a way to start. My first "sword" was a wall hanger, but my first real sword was a Hanwei Practical Katana. Pics later, maybe. Don't you remember? You were one of the first to reply when I posted an inquiry thread all those years ago, lol

Antique Qaddara (origin unknown)This piece was given to me by my Father-in-law in the summer of 2011, when I had just started collecting. He picked it up over 20 years ago at an anique & collectibles shop, somewhere in California, but that's the most he can remember about it at the moment. A unique piece nevertheless. From what I could find, late 19th to early 20th century? Dang that condition is wonderful. I'd love to get one like it so I can have a set with my shashka. Are there any markings on it at all?

is this a forum for baking cakes? Fruitcakes.....lol I resent being labeled a fruitcake, even though it is correct. Can't we resurrect another archaic term like "light in his loafers"?

Probably this one: A Tausug Kalis Tulid (straight kris) with traces of silver alloy inlay and snake pattern steel

Have many swords that predate the ones I am showing including antiques but got them later on the secondhand market. Also had some swords before the ones I am showing but no longer in the collection. I cannot remember which of these two I bought first. Hanwei Katsumushi Katana (Reliks Exclusive) www.reliks.com/functional-swords/limited-edition-katsumushi-katana/ and Windlass Fantasy Viking.
Really like that Hanwei.

Much older up close. Based on what I know about Moro swords, this is probably a 19th Century blade that has been refitted with a 20th Century hilt and scabbard. I actually have two older Moro blades, one likely 1700s and the other probably 1800s, but there isn't enough evidence to conclude either way (and I haven't polished them to explore the pattern - might do so one day, but I just have no time).

The sword I've had the longest so far is my model Roberts cavalry officer sabre. Made in 1896, A vet bring back from the Span - Am Conflict. The oldest in terms of years is probably my Crimean war era P1845 IOS with a nice service edge.
