Greetings to all of you on the Forum. After an absence of more than a dozen years, I am slowly re-entering the world of swords. It took more than seven seasons of Game of Thrones and a vicious bite from the sword bug to get me perusing the Internet in search of the old community. Back then I was a moderator on SFI, led an Iaido study group in San Antonio, TX, and dabbled in longsword cutting there and in the NW. Renn Faires, Ranger garb, Atrims, Japanese Tokenkai, Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu...Glad to see the world has not moved on TOO drastically...
Swords brought me to the Northwest US, but then they gave way to glaciers and ice axes. Which morphed into scythes and immersion in the life of a farmer. Health issues have brought an end to the farming life, a new home in town--and a rekindling of interest in the sharp and pointies.
I see SFI fading away, MyArmoury and e-Budo stumbling a bit. Kult of Athena has really stepped up as the go-to source for the largest selection, though I am sure eBeware and Am-azooming still garner their share of the gamblers and the uninformed. Albions still take a year. As for SBG-Sword, I like what I am seeing here, so you might just entice me to hang around. I have a couple of longswords on order--once they're here I'll probably have more to talk about--other than my GOT predictions from my first post.
