I don't see it on their website yet. The price seems a bit steep. 880 for a longsword but 990 for a seax? Ouch. Looks really nice though

On two separate occasions people affiliated with Albion have strongly implied we will be getting some new axe models offered soon (and of a style I am a huge fan of).

That’s mostly Eric McHugh’s work right? Not necessarily stamped “Albion”? But I did see the comment by Peter Johnsson on the Francisca. Looks like Albion has decided to truly enter the non-sword market. I wish them well! Although I feel like they have a lot of unexplored territory in swords (more sidesword options, perhaps sabres/military replicas, non-Western swords, etc).

The Albion stamp thing is a bit strange. The seax is also Eric's work, and it clearly has an Albion Next Gen mark on it. The axe pictures on the Albion website don't display a touchmark, but they also don't show the axe heads from every angle (like the poll side).

Yes it is Erics work and he posted updates of their manufacture on the facebook site recently. If a company contracts their work out to others, yet own the rights and the items, then does this not make the items a product of that company? As mentioned the images are not showing the heads in their entirety, maybe the mark is on the back or other side. Albion statements on facebook mention the new site is a work in progress so hopefully further images will be available soon. Anyway they are an Albion produced, and quality, product and I would love to own one. They look awesome. As does that sexy seax.

Of course, and Eric's personal work is even higher than standard Albion quality. It's just a matter of branding of course. In the website, they are under Associated Products but are called "Albion Polearms," so maybe, in the end, it's all just semantics.

Looks nice, but I made one years ago almost exactly like it from a large bayonet blade and a piece of black walnut...and it didn't cost me nearly $1000. I know Albion makes good products, and I know I'll catch flack for my comment, but still----$$$$ ? I'm in the wrong line of work.....

For the sake of clarification, you are essentially saying that this seax isn't worth the price it's being sold at, and you are basing this on the anecdote that you once made something similar out of a recycled bayonet. Is that correct?

Aaaand, here comes the flack....
What I was saying is: I built one almost (looking) the same for about $35 from a flea-market bayonet and a piece of wood from an old desk. And, no, I don't think an Albion ANYTHING is worth the prices they charge. Don't get me wrong---Albion makes fine swords. I just think they are overrated and overpriced. That's just MY opinion...take it or leave it. If it's worth it to YOU, then by all means---buy one.

'Worth the price' is in the eye of the beholder.

It's interesting that you felt the need to post disparaging comments on a thread discussing the new offerings of a company you have no intention of patronizing. Comparing the work of an industry professional who researched and painstakingly produced museum quality blades to your hobbyist efforts using recycled junk is insulting. Its insulting to Eric McHughs specifically, and generally insulting to every professional blade smith. Anything you slapped together with a flea market bayonet and some old wood you had laying around is as much like this Albion seax as an United Cutlery stainless steel mall ninja special is to the Honjo Masamune, and that comparison actually isn't very fair to the Chinese laborers who crank out stainless steel wallhanger because they are at least professionals. It is pretty much common knowledge that no one is getting rich producing swords in the price point around $1000 USD. That is a niche market inside of a niche market, and suggesting that these Made In The USA blades from Albion are price gouging the consumers is both sad and laughable.

I compared nothing...I simply made a comment and stated an opinion. I never said mine was better quality, better looking, or any less easy to make. I also don't believe I insulted any blade smiths. Lastly, I didn't imply that Albion is 'price gouging' anyone...it's the consumers choice. Buy what you want. My opinions are my own. Sorry you disagree with it.

You did compare the bayonet knife you made to the Albion seax by saying -

Can we please be nice? Yes, I agree the Albion Seax looks expensive for what it is, although I can't say for sure because I havn't handled one compared to a cheaper one yet.
