We have a board entitled “Manufacturers and Vendors Talk” where vendors can advertise or discuss their products. You are welcome to join the forum and use it.

Hello all, this ceremonial sword has been in my family for decades, and we have been recently pondering its history. We think it is a sword of the order of Pythias. We would love any additional information and insights you can provide.
A few specific questions: When was this sword made? What was its purpose? Who is R.C Meeks? Or, how can we learn who this is in relation to our family? What do the sword’s features symbolize?

"Who is R.C Meeks? Or, how can we learn who this is in relation to our family?" Try researching family trees.

I inherited a sword last month. All I know is Pettibone is the manufacturer. It is curved, not straight. I'm hoping somebody might know an approximate value. I have a photo but not sure how to attach it here. Thanks

Welcome aboard.
If this also has U.S.M.A. on the blade, this is a West Point cadet's sword probably purchased upon graduation. You might research the fellow and find a date of his leaving an academy. There are dozens of military academies that use(d) these, so if not a West Point sword, really rather common but dig on the person's name. Pettibone is still listed as an active business.
Cheers GC
I believe it is Mayes, not Hayes.

The MA us on the hilt. Finding the person is as allusive as the academy. Any idea what these are worth?

The MA us on the hilt. Finding the person is as allusive as the academy. Any idea what these are worth? Search for sold prices. To me? Worthless but it is a fine example. Consider that they are still produced. With the research and bio, someone might want it.
