Hi, i received an albion huskarl today, second hand. i noticed the wire on the pommel was a little loose, it was moving a little, not really tight, and i barely touched it and the solder broke... im wondering what would be the best way to fix that. Maybe glue it ? Problem is that there is not a lot of surface for the wire to make a good contact with the pommel and stick there, and not grease everything around... what would be the best glue for that ? maybe i should try to re solder it ? Not that easy either if i want the wire to be tight and fit everywhere...would need to solder it on more than one spot. for a sword of that price, i find it very disappointing that albion didnt find a better way to attach that wire, make it very tight and solid. I might end up sendng it back to albion for a fix, and thats pissing me off since im in canada... what would be your advice ? Attachments:

epoxy would probably be best, but i would first contact albion and see if they will fix it which they probably will, you will probably need to pay for shipping and wait bit but you bought it 2nd hand so thats the best outcome i think

If that were my sword I would replace the silver wires with brass or preferably gold wire. The best way to do that would be to drill the rivets out and remove the pommel. But you could do it by carefully drilling a small hole between the pommel and guard to insert the wire ends. Just depends on how handy you are with tools. One of Alex Steele's videos on YouTube in his Viking sword series shows how to do it.

I watched Alex's video series and loved it, but wow you'd need mad skills to replace the wires...more than me anyhow... I'd talk with Albion, they are really good about fixes.

An odd suggestion if it's actually a wire made from silver...try a local jewellery repair service. I've a friend who had repairs to make in the silver wire category and he had luck with a local repair shop and their mini torch setup.
