These recent nodachi hits 40 hrc only. I've got to ask, how is edge retention?

These recent nodachi hits 40 hrc only. I've got to ask, how is edge retention? Edge retention is pretty good surprisingly. That's why I've always deduct that it's case hardening / very edge hardened due to thinness there getting hot enough in the soak and cool fast enough in the quench. As you saw I made plenty cuts with it already and unlike my longship swords, I did not touch up the edge at all since the initial sharpening. I just let the edge be and it's still cutting well.

www.facebook.com/watch/?v=2027534860813107You can see in the above video that its dim in the whole blade except the very edge line. Even that one isn't as bright orange as other established smiths' heat treat is. Then the quench time is incredibly short. I've advised them about this and they said it's their spring steel (9260) heat treat, which is the case of my swords from them. You can see the sword has curvature to start with, so it's not "differential heat treating with clay". Here I screen cap the color compare: Sinosword: John Lundemo: Japanese smith:

Is the 'musashi nodachi' the one by the musashi brand available at shops like swordnarmory? If so, how's the grip feel and hold up to use?
Great flow by the way, that tachi-kaze whistling was musical

Nope. It's the Sinosword / JKoo custom nodachi I had been reviewing. LOL. I just name it Musashi since I actually made it after Musashi's legend of using a 120cm blade length against 吉岡一門. Grip tends to rotate due to the flexing of the blade and I can feel the wood was crackling under the stress. Not sure how long it'll manage to hold up.

Lets hope their quenching methods have gotten better over last 2 years. I agree that blade wanst at the right temperature when quenched, and temp wasnt even either. I have 2 regular size katanas(T10+9260)soon to arrive from sinosword, will let you know if they feel properly hardened.
Eating up this large large blades is much harder then regular sized swords too, so its kind of gamble on companies that win money by quantity.
Best Regards
