I don't know how many individual smiths Sinosword employs, but it seems like they have a consistency problem at the very least. The custom odachi blade I got from them in 2017 arrived in perfect condition. It was made from through-hardened 9260, and fortunately it has a springy temper and edge hardness in the 50's (I don't remember what I specifically concluded from the testing, but it was somewhere around 53-56 HRC). I felt confident enough to order another custom from them, with a significantly shorter and thinner blade. However, after seeing the results of the last couple swords you received from them, and with my sword till in the their production queue, I have to admit that I'm a bit apprehensive. I messaged Van about my concerns regarding some of their recent products taking a set too easily, and he assured me that they were inspecting the heat treatments more thoroughly. I guess we will see how it works out in a month, or so.

It was too thick to be usable so I didn't get to check its flexibility. Hardness wise it did hit 55hrc on the outer shell. These recent nodachi hits 40 hrc only.

Yikes, you can tell when it bends. So did they just completely misunderstand what you meant by spring temper or something? HRC in 40's....huh

Spring temper means easily springing back to straight / original form. The blades all came bent. If it was truly spring temper I would have a much harder time to fix the bends. Right now it's like soft clay.
