Isn't hard for edge retention when your cutting you usual newspaper targets? Mind you, this is not a critisism, but I am curious about how often do you have to resharpen your swords when you cut regularly with them with such a shaving sharp edge?

I hone my edge every time with DMT 8000 after cutting, except my 3V swords. My 3V don't need honing every time even if I accidentally cut through 22mm PVC pipe. :P But actually it's just because I'm perfectionist. Even if I don't hone after test cut, it can still cut tons a lot more newspapers roll before needing touch up. I usually leave my students' swords less maintained and they usually dun have any problem cutting endless newspapers rolls with hardcore insert with the students' swords. So edge retention isn't a problem with my kind of sharpness.
