I also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Now, should I inform the manufacturer that I have filed these complaints in the hope that he will feel encouraged to ship me the sword?

If you have a few bucks get a lawyer to write them a hate letter.

Totally your call there. I'd hope one last call to them of "look this is silly what needs to happen to get this thing in the mail and give me a tracking number?" would settle it. It's patently absurd to stonewall you over a box. You sent the sword to them in a box, they can stick it right back in the same one. If they destroyed or used it for something else they should replace it themselves out of pocket. There's no reason for them to drag it out any more.

I sent them one last message explaining I have taken these measures not out of spite, but to recover what's mine. I really hate that I am doing this, but I am prepared to do whatever is necessary. I will ask both offices to drop my complaints if they ship it back to me with a tracking number. You are correct to say that I have been stonewalled... over a box. One does not wait four months for a box.

Yes... that is ridiculous. Thanks for the PM.
A week is an okay but still pretty decent delay for a box... 4 months is robbery. Maybe something happened to your sword at their shop and they're trying to cover their asses.

Maybe something happened to your sword at their shop and they're trying to cover their asses. Well, the hilt of the sword is rather large. So I can understand that finding a box to ship it would require some time and effort, but this is their line of work! I am confident they ship items this large and cumbersome all the time. I shipped it to them with the hilt removed to make it easier. Given that the tang is threaded at the end, they could do the same. If they won't ship it this way, then I wonder if the sword has a flaw they cannot truly repair. This all started when the threaded portion of the tang snapped off when I assembled the pommel. This should not happen, but it did. Perhaps they are not confident it won't happen a second time. I just don't know. I cannot let this one go. It did not cost a fortune, but I don't have the disposable income to waste 500 bucks.

I guessing there was an issue at this point, I've shipped all kinds of swords all sizes and shapes and it never took me more then a week and a half to get a box

Keep in mind d that this a regular stock item, they have boxes popping out of every orifice. Box isn't a relevant issue. Talking about it is a waste of time.
Google the legal concept "conversion". They have something going on the victim doesn't know about. The time for politeness is long past. The time for orbital nuclear bombardment is here.
It's the only way to be sure.

They sell claymore as a regular stock item, how would they ship their retail and wholesale stock if they had no boxes. Liars and theives.

It is a custom item. That I can confirm, but a box certainly does exist. I know because I sent it in a box.

I really hope this tomfoolery gets resolved soon, this is just such an absurd situation. Nobody should have to put up with anything like this for any reason.

Hope this does not go super sideways on you. If it was me, I would have called them until I spoke to a live person before doing anything else. Good luck!

It would have gone sideways if I actually called. I come across to many people as abrasive. It's much better for me to write. I am really grateful for this forum at a time like this. I honestly didn't know what to do!

Damn it now I'm invested and want to know the forge too. I have a hunch who it is but would like to know because, well I'm invested after two pages.

Here's an update: the Better Business Bureau has accepted my complaint and has attempted to reach the manufacturer. Realistically, the BBB cannot force a business to do anything, but it will take consumer complaints seriously and failure to comply can result in a negative rating from them. Ultimately, the only bureaucracy that can do anything substantial is the Attorney General's office. So if I do not hear from this manufacturer in the next four weeks, they will intervene. I think it's a real shame that it has come to this. I think this can really harm their bottom line. I realize I did not purchase the sword directly from them, but it is their work and they were willing to stand by it by fixing a serious flaw in the sword. By ignoring me, by stonewalling me, they are doing damage to their reputation. I don't want retribution for what's gone down, but at this point, I feel as though I ought to just come out with it. How do I do so without crossing the line? Where does one draw the line?

You would think a high profile manufacturer like this would be more self-aware of their public relations, especially when so much of their revenue is from forward-facing avenues. I have to imagine that at this point producing blades isn't their primary source of income.

Don't understand the secrecy here. It's not like the name of the companies in the past hasn't been included in posts like this.
