Cool! Nice blackity-black tsuka that doesn't show sweat or wear is always welcome in my book. And the best part of that stylish saya is...no glossy finish, so no fingerprints. May it make you a very happy swordswinger, looks to be a good sword for practice

Looked black to me at first glance, although I didn't look at the grip close up til now.

Got pics of my new custom design from Sinosword today. Dark blue artificial silk ito with hishigami, black samegawa, bo-hi, and upper rayskin saya. Oh and midare hamon. Yeah the artificial silk is the only way to go. The cotton is like shoelace and the fake leather... Just don't...that was my big mistake with my last Sino.

The artificial silk is the best choice.

I does look nice and the saya seems well made, I had a double strike lemon saya from Sino on my first order (iato and tanto both), one order is being remade from ground up as we speak (quality client service I guess, though they dropped the ball on QC on the first try).
Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks guys. I love the color combo on the Tsuka. The sword arrived today and I have mixed feelings. The blade looks great aside from there being two different styles of hamon on each side, the tsuba is loose and the Saya does not hold the blade in AT ALL.

Well, can fix by sticking some eva foam around the mouth of the sheath. Since it is compressible it'll fit automatically.

You mean the saya is too loose, right? Too loose is an understatement. It's like a child trying to wear it's father's shoes. I've had the same problem with my son's iaito, they actually shimmed it with a rounded glob of epoxy, had to remove the thing as it was damaging the habaki. Ended up shimming the mouth with multiple layers of wood striping, almost 1/16 inch thick in total. Still rattles a lot at the yokote. The tanto's koiguchi was no tight either though not as bad, but they put cotton wool in the saya to hold the blade. After removing it the rattle is terrible.
So far, after only two swords, looks like JKOO's weakest point is on the saya side - Both of mine are terrible, say, compared to a generic Ebay saya. Hope this is not a trend.

Only a newbie, but I have noticed on some of the sites that offer customization,(jkoo,Lyuesword,Hanbon) there are standard options for saya and also fittings*,with some variations but the majority are commonalities. The same generic ebay saya are offered from the aforementioned "customizers". *I know there is a collective term for fittings (tsuba, seppa, kashira etc.) but cannot remember it. Also, that is a real shame about the hamon and the tsuba. I sent off a quote request for a custom from them and am now considering another vendor.

The last katana I had from them, the Saya had some rattle but at least the koiguchi was relatively snug. I’ve emailed them about both the tsuba and saya so we’ll see what happens when they return from CNY.
