So bottom line, I need a thicc XVIIIc boi in my life. I already own the Arbedo, and I love it, but she’s tiny. Also I know of the Ronin Katana Euro Model 3 aka the Harriet Dean Sword (Looking to buy one if anyone is selling) and I know of the Albion Principe, and Albion Alexandria, but I’m wondering are there any others out there? Am I crazy, or is one of the most attractive Oakeshott typologies, also one of the least represented in the market? Is there a reason there are so few XVIIIc options out there?

Have you considered the windlass schloss erbach sword? Not super thicc but looks fairly broad and meaty

Have you considered the windlass schloss erbach sword? Not super thicc but looks fairly broad and meaty Wow that’s a good looking sword! It’s not a XVIIIc but it’s in the same family (looks like an XVIIIa) so it does have some of those gorgeous characteristics that I love! Unfortunately it looks like it’s probably out of production. It’ll probably be a hard one to find, but it’s definitely going on the list for things to look out for. Thanks for pointing it out!

As you probably live in the USA, then I suppose most European smiths are not really that viable option. You'll find lots of affordable smiths in Europe that could make a nice sword to you.

Actually it would be useful to share that knowledge of you could, I think European smiths could do with the exposure and I only know Rob Miller and the two Polish brothers who post on here.

Personally I like type XX longswords. Biggg.
The Ronin has really good reviews, and looks huge. Outside the ones you listed though I think the only other route is custom.

Ronins needs a heftier pommel, the one they got on is too light, even if it makes an already heavier sword heavier it would make it handle alot better if the pob was brought back alittle
