Hey I’m thinking of attempting to redo the wrapping on an old musha budget katana I’ve had since I was 18 (4 years now) can anyone point me in the right direction of how to do a battle wrap and know off hand if there’s enough ito to make a rewrap?

Hello. That particular style is called katate maki. There are some tutorials laying around on how to do one, as well as various videos on YouTube if you look up 'katate maki'. Here's an instructional article from a while ago that a member posted. Hope it helps. www.sword-buyers-guide.com/Battle-Wrap.html

But I was going to get new fittings for it sometime anyway.

Interesting tutorial. I know I purchased a katana last year that came with the battle wrap style ito. Black silk over red ray skin. I will try to wrap one myself using this guide when the need arises. Battle wrap definitely feels different in your hands.

My only problem with the guide is there is no visuals for after the non-diamond part is done, near the knot
