I sliced my finger down to the bone while sharpening. Try not to sneeze while sharpening! may lead to dire consequences.

I have a Windlass Qama and I like it. The handle is a bit small for someone with big hands, but its still very usable. I haven't sharpened mine (YET) but after seeing this, I think I might have to!

Does that look like a single edged variant to you, or is the fuller offset for some other reason? Also, I keep noticing that originals seem to have much longer, slimmer handles than the WS copy. I wish they'd change that aspect (not much chance, but one can hope ). CJ, sharpen that baby up! They're decent little cutters!

I'm only infrequently on these days thanks to a crazy work schedule that finally let up this week. Most qama are offset in the fullers, and all are, as a rule, double edged (otherwise they are qaddare!) I'm not sure why that is, or even if it has any practical effect on the sword as opposed to central fullers. I like the multi-fullered ones the best anyhow! "The majority of antique qames have offset fullers (one fuller on each side), yet there are also varieties with multiple fullers. There are also rare examples with no fullers (see Moshtagh-Khorasani, 2006:579, cat. 207). On the other hand, qaddare is used to describe a weapon that has a straight, single-edged blade. Both qame and qaddare lack a handguard and have the same shape as the handle." www.persianmirror.com/Article_det.cfm?id=1154&getArticleCategory=58&getArticleSubCategory=94www.persianmirror.com/articleDetails.cfm?type=Martial%20Arts&catids=58

No problem on the delay. I do the same myself now and then. Your links seem to be down for the time being, but I recalled seeing offset fullers on the cross section chart at myArmoury, but I couldn't tell from the pics in your original link if the fullers were offset from one another on either side of the blade, or whether both fullers were directly across from one another, just off center, like a bowie knife blade or other single-edged blade, for example. It looks to me like having true offset fullers may have been an attempt to have the weight-saving advantage of a fullered blade without thinning out any one area of the blade as much as a traditional "directly-opposed" fuller setup (if that makes sense ;D).

Well, I could have told you that! The Qama is an extraordinary weapon, they are also a deal, you can get 3 for just a little over $100.

Mine held it very well. But I still touch it up occasionally. I haven't heard of a sword too sharp only a weilder who is too clumsy.
