I'm curious if anyone here has ever used parts from the various cheapo indian replica sabers. There's a few on KOA have threaded blades and so would be fairly easy to take down and replace the blade with something else (I'd probably put a practical rapier blade in them or find a reasonable facsimile to a lighter saber blade). Curved SaberStraight Sword/Pallasch thingieI have noticed in one or two movies these hilts are used along with new aluminum blades, most notably in The Mask of Zorro, used for the saber wielded by Captain Love. I've also seen one or two people take these hilts and put hanwei hutton blades in them. I may experiment with them, worst comes to worst I'm out $50 and have a new wallhanger.

I have a sabre build I will be working on in the near future. I have not considered buying a wall hanger simply for parts. I keep searching everywhere for people who fabricate sword hilts, but there is little in terms of modern sword hilts. Let us know how this works out for you.

Sort of. I once bought 4 munitions grade WEIs from Kult of Athena. Used the scabbards for antiques and gave away the swords. Scabbard fit two 18th Century and two French pallasches.

I have used parts to make better swords before it is totally doable. I made this Tudor period saber from a revolutionary war saber by Windlass

For the swords that KofA describes as munitions grade, are the scabbards generally expected to be okay?

For the swords that KofA describes as munitions grade, are the scabbards generally expected to be okay? Hard to answer precisely. The discount indicates how bad the problem is. For a 5% markdown there are probably a couple of seviceable dings, and maybe some scratches. Nothing that dramatic. Couple of points of small surface rest also possible, but I have seen that in Windlass swords mostly.
