hey guys, im working on a Viking era/ migration era sword, with a metal/wood guard and pommel
and I was hoping to get any tips, suggestions or photos regarding the hilt construction
Im not worried about it being based on any one style but I would love to see any close up pics of hilts of you guys have any

Brian Kerce is making me a migration era sword with exotic wood grip and fittings, I guess the way to do it would be to make the parts seperately and assemble them with a peen holding it all together, as u can see in the pic u should probably start with much larger pieces then the end product will look and u can just scrap away till u get it to the size u want

ooo looks good! ive got a good selection of exotic hardwoods..so im going to pick out a nice dark wood

mixing and matching colors is one of the strong points of using wood, the one in the pic above is based on the sutton hoo sword

I read "assemble them with a pen holding it all together" and indeed it seems to be made that way.
